As we prepare to joyously celebrate the 70th anniversary of Israel, we must remember that without the 23,632 soldiers and security forces who sacrificed their lives defending and protecting our land, we would not be privileged to celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut. We are obligated to perpetuate their memories.
In observance of Yom HaZikaron, Areyvut will be participating in a virtual memorial program. Olami, in partnership with The Afikim Foundation and Israel’s Ministry of the Diaspora, has initiated Yizkereim – Honor Israel’s Fallen, in order to meaning fully pay tribute to each one of these fallen heroes. A culminating Memorial Event on Yom HaZikaron will unify Jews worldwide in paying tribute to Israel’s fallen. Areyvut will be participating in Yizkereim by honoring 10 fallen heroes. We will learn about each of the fallen and perform a positive action (chesed, service, prayer, learning, or tzedaka) in the memory of those fallen heroes. We invite you to participate and help us to remember those who died and do an act of chesed in their memory.
