On Monday, May 4 through Thursday, May 7, 2009, the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) held its 50th annual convention in Congregation Bnai Yeshurun in Teaneck, NJ. The program highlighted many challenges facing the Orthodox rabbinate and Jewish life in America today.
Daniel Rothner, Areyvut’s Founder and Director, attended the conference on Wednesday, May 6, where he informally consulted with conference attendees to discuss Areyvut programming and ways to create a more caring community. He also heard from rabbis about innovative programs that they are implementing in their synagogues and communities. Rabbis who attended the conference were given copies of Areyvut’s 2009 “A Kindness a Day” desk calendar and were encouraged to incorporate the calendar and its messages into their programming, sermons and synagogue.
