Description of Organization:
Leket Israel, Israel’s National Food Bank and premier food rescue organization, collects and rescues 40 million pounds of healthy, surplus food annually that would have gone to waste, and distributes it to those in need. Leket does this by working with hotels, corporate kitchens, army bases, farmers, and others to collect hot meals and produce that aren’t going to be eaten and delivers them to its 200 nonprofit partners throughout Israel. Through these initiatives, Leket Israel helps to feed over 175,000 people per week including families, Holocaust survivors, elderly, youth at risk, and more.
