The past two years Areyvut has run 5 Days/5 Ways, a one week Chesed/Service Camp. This summer in lieu of running 5 Days/5 Ways, we have decided to partner with our friends and dear colleagues at the Bergen Volunteer Center on Ready, Set, Serve, a 3 day summer service and leadership experience for incoming Middle School students.
What is Ready, Set, Serve?
Ready, Set, Serve is a fun and challenging summer program for incoming Middle School students who want to be leaders and make positive change in their school and community.
Participants will be immersed in interactive, interesting, fun activities and learning valuable leadership skills they need to make a difference. The focus is on community service – they will participate in challenging exercises including community needs analysis, goal setting, team building, project planning, decision making and other dynamic leadership skills.
Much of the curriculum is based on Generation On’s Go Leads program, a nationally recognized youth service organization. Generation On, part of the Hands On Network and the Points of Light Institute, inspires young people to become tomorrow’s leaders.
The Ready, Set, Serve experience continues beyond the one week in summer. Over the course of the academic year, participants will design and implement a community service project.
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for incoming Middle School students.
