A new and improved Mitzvah Clown Program!
We are pleased to once again be hosting a Mitzvah Clown training. While this training will take place in Bergen County, it is open to all and once you are trained you are encouraged to march with us on May 18 at the Celebrate Israel Parade, to participate in future Mitzvah Clown site visits and to actively use your skills.
This transformational intergenerational program is geared for students 6th grade and up, including teens and adults to learn about the mitzvah of Kavod HaBriyot (human dignity) and Bikkur Cholim (visiting the sick) while at the same time teaching Mitzvah Clowning skills to enhance their knowledge and friendly visits. Participants will learn what is Mitzvah Clowning, what is it not, why it is important, how to do it and interact with senior citizens, children with special needs and others in need of healing and a friendly visit. The program will include a training session and each participant will receive a clown kit, clown costume, balloons and balloon pump that will be theirs to keep and snacks. Participants will learn the gift that keeps on giving, a lifelong skill that will bring joy, laughter and smiles to those in need of them while profoundly impacting them and many others.
At the training participants will learn how to apply clown make-up, create balloon animals and undergo role play exercises to better prepare them for their friendly visit. After the initial session, these newest Mitzvah Clowns will put into action what they learn by visiting seniors locally. Following the initial training and friendly visit, the Mitzvah Clowns will go on site visits to local senior centers and other facilities.
The onetime cost to participate in this program is $180. That is significantly cheaper than other activities and the fee includes a clown kit, clown costume, participation and supplies for future site visits. Tax deductible sponsorship opportunities are available and are greatly appreciated. All sponsors will receive eternal gratitude and letters for tax purposes. No refunds will be given after the event.
