The Mitzvah Makers

Posted on March 1, 2013

A new program called The Mitzvah Makers has been created in San Diego to enable and help Bnai Mitzvah celebrants to develop Mitzvah Projects for their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs.  This is very similar to our Individual Bnai Mitzvah Consultations and we applaud this initiative. We look forward to partnering with The Mitzvah Makers and making Bnai Mitzvah Continue Reading »

Posted on February 25, 2013

The Chronicle of Philanthropy asks: Is Philanthropy Killing Itself With Kindness?  They want to know if the field is too friendly and if doing so is having an adverse impact.  I think that all of us can always be nicer and that being nice can only positively impact the field.  What do you think?

Still Not Coming This Year

Posted on February 14, 2013

I love synagogues!  They are often a hub in the community and a place that people of all ages and movements go for guidance, services, classes and much more.  Even with the world and the way many Jews practice their Judaism changing, the synagogue continues to play a prominent role, as it should.  I like nice Continue Reading »

Random Acts of Kindness Week

Posted on February 12, 2013

It was just “Random Acts of Kindness Week.”  While we can always use more kindness in the world, I have some issues with this name.  Kindness should not be “random.”  It should be thought-out, planned and taken seriously. At Areyvut, we make it our goal to ensure that kindness is not considered “random,” but that it is a Continue Reading »
