Highlighting Previous “Make as Difference” Day Educational Resources

Posted on March 5, 2010

In honor of Areyvut’s 6th annual “Make a Difference” Day next weekend I want to highlight the educational material from previous years and encourage you to utilize them throughout the year. The planning unit is an awesome resource that will help you plan any program to make it more focused and meaningful.

2005– Ezra Tuchman deserves credit for developing the idea for “Make a Difference” Day and the initial year featured resources for schools, families and communities.
2006– In 2006, we introduced a planning unit to help formalize and build on the success of the program and included suggestions that anyone can do without preparation.
2007– We focused on caring for the sick and elderly.
2008– We partnered with JNF to address preserving the environment and had the most successful program to date.
2009– We addressed health and wellness.

I am thrilled that Areyvut has played a prominent role in putting service on the communal agenda, uniting Jews throughout the county, providing concrete and important resources on these topics and getting people involved in hands on projects in their communities. I would like to thank all the agencies that have participated in the past and the thousands of people throughout the world who actively make a difference. You can still participate in this year’s program and as always let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day, a Shabbat Shalom and a wonderful weekend!
