“Making Yourself Indispensable” and Playing to Your Strengths

Posted on October 28, 2011

The Harvard Business Review’s article titled, “Making Yourself Indispensable” offers the smart advice that “if you want to get to the top, develop skills that complement what you already have.”  Capitalizing on our individual and collective talents when working in teams enables much success and development in both the non-profit world and life in general.  Self-awareness is key, assessing what our talents and strong points are both in and out of the office and how we deal with various situations that arise.  Once we can honestly pin-point exactly when, how, and under what conditions we perform at our best, we can utilize that knowledge to benefit everyone we are working towards helping by cultivating these qualities and placing ourselves in positions that enable us to be our most indispensable asset yet.
This idea of self-awareness can also be a great way to consider choosing a charity or a chesed project.  Think about your personal interests and hobbies and allow that to guide you to a meaningful and personal way to create change in your community and abroad.  We here at Areyvut are always willing to help connect you with opportunities for chesed!  Feel free to contact us with questions about chesed projects or volunteer opportunities that you will find personally fulfilling and have a great time taking part in.  Call us at (201) 244-6702, or email us at info@areyvut.org.
