An article in the Forward discusses the recent developments surrounding the Olympics in London. Ankie Spitzer, the widow of Andrei Spitzer, the fencing coach of the 1972 Israeli team, is not giving up on her goal for there to be a moment of silence in memory of the 11 who were murdered 40 years ago in Munich. The IOC has been refusing, claiming that those murdered are remembered at memorials organized by the Israelis. They are seeing this moment of silence as some sort of political statement, but really it would be saying that terror is NEVER welcome at the Olympics. What a sad and unfortunate situation when the world can’t come together to give such a message.
