Making Lists

Posted on September 5, 2012

A recent article published in JUF News (originally appearing in the Forward) included a list of “50 Jewish things to do before 13” and also discussed the possibility of making a similar list of things to do after the age of 13.  What is it about making lists?  Making lists helps us to focus on our goals, on what we want to accomplish.  Putting our ideas in writing makes them more real and exciting to us and it makes them something concrete that we can actually bring to fruition.

So why shouldn’t we all make our own personal lists of ways we want to improve ourselves and the world around us?  We could try to help our families more, volunteer at the local nursing home, etc.  There are so many ways, both big and small, that we can try to improve the world, one step at a time.
