Better Together 2025 Program Launch

We are restarting a transformational intergenerational program that we ran before October 7, 2023 that is open to high school freshman, sophomores and juniors.  The goal is to really get to know the senior citizens while you actively grow, reflect and learn new skills that you can use throughout your life.

Parents, educators and rabbis, please take the time to discuss this unique and important program with your child, students, congregants and feel free to reach out with any questions.

We encourage you to watch this video from the initial cohort.  It will give you a sense of the impact the program had on the participants, residents and staff at CareOne.

Program details, the who, what and where are in the flyer below.  Here is the why:

• This is a leadership program and you are a leader.
• You will get to meet students in other grades, from other schools and together build comUNITY.
• You will interact directly with the residents, get to spend quality and quantity time with them, do arts and crafts, play games, eat and so much more together.
• Participation will look good on your college applications and can be central in your college essays and the program will be awesome, meaningful, memorable and fun.
• You genuinely care, are eager to give back, grow and actively make a difference.
• You will emerge with skills that you can use throughout your life.
• You will meaningfully  impact others and be impacted in the process.

Committing to Better Together is like a commitment like playing on a sports team.  When you commit to the program, you make a commitment to attend each session.  Just like you make every effort to attend every practice and game, you would likewise make the same effort to participate in Better Together.

We know you are busy so we have made it easy and scheduled the sessions with the seniors and the training sessions back to back on the same evening.  From 5:30-6:30 you will meet with the seniors and from 6:30 to 7:30 dinner will be served while having a teen only training session.

Sessions will meet at CareOne at 544 Teaneck Road.

To express your interest in participating, please e-mail [email protected] and provide your grade, school, home address, cell phone number and briefly explain why you want to participate.  Please note that those that are accepted will need to provide additional information including their parents names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers so that we can ensure that parents are properly informed throughout the program.

If you have a conflict for one of the sessions but really want to participate we still strongly encourage you to still express your interest.

By participating in this program you agree that Areyvut can take pictures and videos of you to submit for documentation to Better Together.
