An Invitation to Write Letters to Chayalim

Posted on June 7, 2016

In conjunction with H.O.P.E., our Jewish Teen Philanthropy program at Yeshivat Noam we are writing letters to chayalim to be distributed by Yashar LaChayal.

We hope to collect hundreds of letters and pictures by June 21 and invite you, your family and friends to send us or drop off letters.

Here are some guidelines

Supplies:
Cardstock paper
Markers or crayons
Stickers

Directions:
Begin with: Dear Chayal,

What to write about:

  • It is all about appreciation and respect!
  • Let them know that you are thinking of them.
  • Share a little bit of yourself- Family, Hobbies, Work, Pets
  • Talk about life back home: Sports, Weather, Music, and Movies
  • Ask yourself: Will this letter bring a smile to someone’s face?

Keep in mind:

  • Keep your message upbeat and positive.
  • Realize what they do on a daily basis to protect the State of Israel.
  • They will appreciate your letter but likely will not have time to write you back.
  • Be thankful!

Still can’t find the words? Consider drawing a picture instead!

Letters can be sent to or dropped off at:

Areyvut, Inc.
147 South Washington Avenue
Bergenfield, NJ 07621

Please help us inform others so they too can participate in this mitzvah.

Thanks in advance for your help and partnership!
