Teach For Right Now

Teaching Judaism for the present moment is super important.  Wendy Grinberg in her article makes the point that “we have worship services for second graders because second graders are spiritual beings who need an outlet for their own hopes, thoughts, and prayers” not only to prepare them for their upcoming bar or bat mitzvah.  When we cater to the usefulness of the teaching itself, “when we teach values, they have immediate relevance.”  We couldn’t agree more at Areyvut and love seeing the children and teenagers we work with, engaged in helping the community and asking for what more they can do to help out, based on the Jewish values they’ve been instilled with.
