Dolly Parton who founded the Imagination Library which in turn inspired the launch of The PJ Library told Fox News that giving back has nothing to do with being rich and according to traditional Jewish sources she is 100% correct. We are taught that even poor people who support themselves from tzedakah are obligated to give. This is such an important lesson and one that profoundly impacts giving. I believe that all the philanthropists, athletes, movie stars and famous people who have given throughout their life and before they made it give a greater % of their income than people who only give once they made it. Let me you know what you think. I think the stats support Dolly’s premise and underscore the relevance of traditional Jewish teachings.
