Celebrating 25 years of freedom for Natan Sharansky

Posted on February 9, 2011

With an op-ed in the JTA Rabbi Avi Weiss reminds us all that February 11 will be 25 years since Natan Sharansky became a free man. I have read Mr. Sharansky’s book, articles, speeches and had the pleasure of hearing him speak at the PEJE Assembly in 2008. He has done a great deal to engage, empower and educate Jews throughout the world and we should make sure that our children and students know about his contributions. If/when he comes to your community be sure to go hear him and learn from a true visionary and leader. Be sure to take your children and students for a once in a lifetime opportunity. I suggest that we use this time to reflect of how Mr. Sharansky has brought Jews together and to think about what we can do to follow his example.
