SUMMARY:Mitzvah Clown Training at @NSHA High School
DESCRIPTION:In honor of Rosh Chodesh Adar and in conjunction with a schoolw
ide Yom Iyun focused on simcha and happiness\, Areyvut is pleased to facil
itate a Mitzvah Clown training for students at North Shore Hebrew Academy
High School.\nRooted in the mitzvot of Bikkur Cholim\, Kavod HaBriyot and
Tikkun Olam\, Mitzvah Clowning is not a performance\, but a meaningful vis
it designed to change the energy of a room through joy\, color and genuine
human connection.\nStudents learn that the goal is not to entertain\, but
to uplift — to bring presence\, dignity and warmth to seniors and other
vulnerable populations.\nDuring the training\, participants explore the c
ore values of respect\, active listening\, teamwork and inclusion.\nThroug
 h guided role-playing of real-life scenarios\, students practice respondin
g thoughtfully to different personalities\, working together using a “Ye
s\, and…” approach and ensuring that each interaction prioritizes safe
ty\, modesty and comfort. They also learn practical tools of the trade —
including how to use balloons\, stickers and bubbles as conversation star
ters — always remembering to ask permission and be mindful of allergies
or sensitivities.\nImmediately following the training\, students will visi
t residents at The Bristal to put their learning into action. The site vis
it reinforces that Mitzvah Clowning is about quality over quantity and abo
ut meaningful engagement rather than simply distributing balloons.\nVisiti
ng in teams\, observing the tone of each room and including staff and fami
ly members when appropriate\, students experience firsthand how small acts
of joy can have a powerful impact.\nAfter the visit\, participants will d
ebrief and reflect on what worked\, what surprised them and how it felt to
bring simcha to others.\nThis reflection highlights a central message of
Adar: that true happiness often comes from uplifting others and strengthen
ing commUNITY.\nTo arrange a Mitzvah Clown program at your school\, synago
gue or within your commUNITY\, or to explore additional Areyvut initiative
 s\, please contact us at 201-244-6702 or info@areyvut.org.\n&nbsp\;
